Membership Benefits

The Clay Commons CIC is a democratic organisation, and we welcome suggestions to contribute to the direction of our programming. Please contact us with ideas and we’ll see what we can do!

We have three core branches of activity: co-create, co-learn, collaborate.

Memberships include:

  • Blog

Early bird offers and discounts to our Collaborate Events

  • Annual Conference
A unique opportunity to come together as a national community, to build relationships and share innovative practice and ideas to push the discipline forward.

  • Professional development
As well as our regular Networking Forums, Night Class and Annual Conference, The Clay Commons CIC offers a range of in person workshops, training, development and networking events in partnership with our Programme Partners. These will bring members into contact with spaces, knowledge and resources that might otherwise be inaccessible to them e.g. collections, safeguarding training, work exchange programmes.

MEMBERSHIPS WILL LAUNCH LATER IN 2026!

100% of the annual membership fee goes towards programming and running costs, benefiting our members directly. Once we have gathered enough members to cover our operational costs, our model will alter so that a percentage of membership fees is added to a bursary fund to provide direct financial support for our members.

SLIDING SCALE Membership:

Our memberships are offered on a sliding scale subscription to improve accessibility. We do not means test or ask for proof of need but encourage our members to think generously and critically about which membership they might fall under.

Support Us

The Clay Commons CIC has chosen to be an income generating organisation to build resilience in the face of cuts to arts funding. However, access is a guiding principle for us, and so we aim to keep all our membership costs as low as possible. This means we still need your support to provide accessible programming and opportunities and welcome one off or ongoing donations.

Ethical Funding

The Clay Commons CIC believes in the transformative potential of clay to create inclusive, more sustainable and ethical societies. This means we run as a democratic, multi-voice organisation and are transparent about our choices and politics. This requires a critical and ethical approach to everything we do, including funding. We’re a young organisation and do not expect to get everything right, but we are on this journey with you and are here to learn. We are working to develop an ethical fundraising policy, which can be found here (when its written!).
